Ring of Combat, Atlantic City’s
oldest and hardest hitting mixed martial arts competition is
less than a week away.
With
the event fast approaching we decided to check in with two of
Team Tiger Schulmann’s fighters scheduled to compete
in
this high profile event. Joshu Nick Pace will take on Lennox
Chance, who has nearly 40 fights to his name.
Sensei
Louis Gaudinot is looking to take his game to the next level
with a defeat of Tuan “Kid Thunder” Pham.
What training progression did you use to prepare for Ring
of Combat?
Pace: “We
began training very hard for ROC eight weeks ago. We really
increased my cardio work for this ROC. I could
actually feel my body and mind getting stronger each day.”
Gaudinot: “Each
day my workouts became more intense. The exercises became
harder. The last week we step it down a notch
to allow time to heal before the fight.”
Did you change your diet during the training period? (Laughter
from both fighters)
Pace: “I
had a 100 % diet change six weeks out. I usually wait until
three weeks out. I eat about four small meals and two
snacks a day and drink only water. I definitely notice
a difference in my weight by approaching my diet this way.”
Gaudinot: “I had a strict “no junk” diet.
Six small meals a day and like Nick I am drinking only water.
No soda or red bull (laugh).
The last week I will eat very
light.
What about your lifestyle?
Pace: “I
am twenty-two years old but live a lot different life then
most of the guys my age. Between training and teaching my
students, both of which I love and take seriously, I just
don’t have time to go out.”
Gaudinot: “Same
here, we are both really committed to Team Tiger Schulmann
and to our schools and students. That and my family
are my life.”
Do you have any advice for the student who is interested in
someday joining Team Tiger Schulmann?
Pace: “You
have to be 100% mentally and physically committed. If you
have a strong mind the body will follow.”
Gaudinot: “Do it for the right reasons or you won’t
make it.” |
