A dream became a reality for Shane Burgos as he entered the UFC octagon for the first time. Making his debut in his home-state of NY, Burgos was looking to not only put on a show for his friends, family, and students but also make a statement to the world that he belongs in the top mixed martial arts promotion.
Putting on a show is just what Burgos and opponent, UFC veteran, Tiago Trator did at UFC Fight Night Albany. The entertaining 3 round affair saw both fighters have their moments but by midway through the 2nd round, it was Burgos who seized control of the bout. Dominating in the striking department, Burgos repeatedly dropped Trator and pulled away on the judges scorecards. Burgos was close to finishing the fight with strikes on a few occasions but Trator proved his toughness and heart by continuing to battle through the onslaught.
By the end of the 3rd round, there was no question who had decisively won the bout. The question immediately became, who should Burgos fight next? It was a thrilling debut for Burgos who proudly represented the Tiger Schulmann Organization. We congratulate Shane and look forward to him competing in the octagon in the near future!
