Breakdown:

Shane Burgos vs. Godofredo Pepey 145lbs – Fight Pass Only Fight – 4pm

This bout is currently scheduled for the 2nd bout of the day. Team Tiger and Shane Burgos fans will need to make sure they enter the area by 4pm or tune into UFC’s Fight Pass online by 4pm as this bout will be going off shortly after.  Burgos is a raising contender in the featherweight division, putting his perfect record, (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), on the line against Godofredo Pepey (13 – 4 MMA, 5 – 4 UFC). Expect to see an action packed affair with a finish (KO or Submission) as both Burgos and Pepey carry impressive fight finishing ratios with only 2 decision wins between them. A statement win here by Burgos should propel him into the top 15 ranks of the featherweight division.

Lyman Good vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos – 170lbs – Fox – 6pm

Good vs dos Santos is scheduled as the featured bout of the “prelim ” portion of the card. The “Good” news here is that the prelims are scheduled to show live and free on Fox. Good is one of the most recognizable and accomplished fighters from Team Tiger Schulmann’s and boasts an impressive record (19 – 3 MMA, 1-0 UFC). Previous stops at Bellator MMA and CFFC MMA earlier in his career saw him capture welterweight gold, and Good has now set his sights on the UFC’s Welterweight title. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos stands in the way of Good and is a 21 fight veteran (16 – 5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) of the sport himself. This bout was made the featured prelim for a reason so expect fireworks between these two hungry lions. Good can do it all in the cage and his cerebral approach could very well be the X-factor of this fight.

Jimmie Rivera vs Thomas Almeida – 135lbs – Fox – 8pm

Team Tiger fans and Jimmie Rivera fans will need to stay glued to the TV following Good vs dos Santos, as the next bout, and main card opener, will be Jimmie Rivera vs Thomas Almeida. This bout features two top 10 ranked bantamweights in #5 Rivera and #9 Almeida. Rivera is knocking on the door of a title shot with his 19 straight wins (20 – 1 MMA, 4 – 0 UFC) coupled with his dismantling of MMA legend Uriah Faber.  A win over the highly touted Almeida (21 -1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) should solidify him as the unquestioned top contender. That being said, a win of Almeida will be a tall order as the Brazilian striker has won 17 of his 21 bouts by KO/TKO. Like Good vs dos Santos, this bout was made the main card opener for a reason. The old cliché “styles make fights” certainly applies here and when you throw in the title shot implications to follow, you have yourself a must watch fight.

Conclusion:

UFC on Fox 25 is truly an historic event for Team Tiger Schulmann’s. For these three home grown NY/NJ based Tiger Schulmann’s Instructors, this is a dream come true as they have the opportunity to compete live in front of all of their friends, family, and students. What makes this event even more special and rare is for the UFC to schedule all three to compete on the same card, something that may never happen again and not to be missed. The hard work and training camps have been completed and now it’s showtime. There is still time to purchase tickets, so please join us at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island on July 22nd!
