Rivera wins via Split Decision

Sao Paulo, with a decision over Pedro Munhoz. Rivera made the trek from Elmwood Park, NJ to Sao Paulo, Brazil to take on Munhoz in his own backyard. With the odds and crowd against him, Rivera put on one his most impressive performances to date. Jimmie controlled the 1st round, clearly out-striking Munhoz with crisp combinations. Round 2 was action packed with highlight moments for both competitors. Jimmie started round 2 where he left off and dropped Munhoz. Sensing the end was near, Rivera rushed Munhoz, following up with strong shots. Munhoz displayed great heart surviving the onslaught and was able to gain momentum by dropping Rivera with a strike of his own. By the 3rd round, Munhoz’s right eye was swollen shut and Rivera was bleeding from both his eye and nose. With the fight on the line, Rivera dug deep in the round 3 and outworked and out struck Munhoz en route to winning a decision. Both fighters displayed warrior spirit and put on an entertaining war. Congratulations to Jimmie, who is know developing into a contender in the bantamweight division.
