Research Study Indicates Martial Arts Have a Positive Effect on Boys with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD)

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) is the most commonly diagnosed disorder of childhood in the U.S.

A scientific research study was conducted and presented (in Spring 2004) by Dr. Matthew Morand as his Doctor of Psychology dissertation at Hofstra University in New York. The study measured the effects of a Martial Arts Intervention Program on the academic and behavior performance of ‘non-medicated’ boys with AD/HD. The study and its findings were supported by Hofstra University, and later published by Hofstra University and Dr. Matthew Morand.

Martial Arts were shown to substantially improve the behaviors and academic performance of boys with AD/HD. The study provides empirical data supporting Martial Arts as a Positive Non-Medication Intervention for boys with AD/HD.
