Tiger Schulmann’s

A Family that Trains Together Benefits Together

Our 6 year old son and 8 year old daughter were taking Taekwondo at a local school. Our daughter dropped out after receiving 3 belts promotions, our son was getting bored with the curriculum, and frustrated that kids who didn’t deserve belts were getting them. Our son was the first to mention Tiger Schulmann’s and between the TV commercials and driving past the storefront almost every day, he convinced us to allow him to give it a try.  I have to admit that at his first trial we were quite taken back by how physical the class was – much welcome change for him..lots of kicking, punching, learning how to defend yourself.  He LOVED it and we signed him up right away.

Not too long after, I received an email about the 90 day challenge that started in January 2015.  I forwarded it to my husband (kinda hoping he would say no) and said “Wanna do this with me?”.  I for one, was ready for a change..heading over 200 lbs., no energy and not happy.  We always tried to eat healthy, my husband more than me…I even tried a personal trainer which toned me up a little, but I didn’t get the “you should eat better” message he was trying to tell me.  I would cook at home with lots of butter, fried a lot of foods, we enjoyed eating out, soda/wine/mixed drinks at night.  We decided together, enough was enough and we signed up.
“I had done Weight Watchers before, but this was different.”
Our first class was preceded by an informative meeting with Joshu Fischetti, Alex and the other 90 day challenge participants. I had done Weight Watchers before, but this was different.  I felt like I got hit in the head with a brick learning how badly we were eating, but I wasn’t all that excited about the changes we were going to make. Then came time for “class”… It felt like it was 2 hours long, challenging.. but FUN!  We went in with no idea what the class would be like..it was enlightening and motivating. We really enjoyed learning what I wouldn’t call “Kickboxing” but more Self Defense and ways to protect yourself. After class we went home and emptied our cabinets of all the bad food stuff and made a pact to DO THIS!  We made a list and went food shopping and started prepping meals.  We were more determined every day to make the best eating choices we could. The Facebook page also helped with inspiration and pictures of meals, recipes.. Hey this isn’t so bad!
Our daughter became interested after my husband and I started taking regular classes.  She would have to sit and watch her brother first, then us complete our classes.  Every class she would mimic the moves from her spot in the waiting area and gained confidence in her abilities..she wanted to join too!

That’s how it all began for us and only got better because doing this as a family is so motivating in itself – to have that kind of support and knowing you are setting a great example for your kids was just what we needed.
Working with Joshu Mike Fischetti, and Alex Cintron has been an amazing experience.  From our first meeting we were taken with their candidness and knowledge..not only from a business standpoint but personal as well. They really got to know us and genuinely cared about the journey we were about to take.  They teach us to push ourselves, in both the classes and our life..take that next step, do more than you think you can, get out of your comfort zone. The way they conduct classes for both kids and adults is sincerely motivating, without intimidation, judgement or the feeling that you’re getting punished. This has made a huge impact on the way we conduct ourselves in class and out of class. Joshu and Alex also helped our kids (and us) by speaking to them behind closed doors about their behaviors in school and at home.  Rob, who works with them at the Seaford NY location, has also been a pleasure. He’s so helpful and takes the time to talk to the kids and teach them correct form and positioning. Our kids really respect Joshu Fischetti, Alex and Rob. Our “Classmates” have been awesome as well.. it means a lot how genuine, friendly and welcoming everyone there is.
“Since completing the 90day challenge, at the age of 45..I am down 25 lbs. I’m so much happier and I finally feel in control of myself and my weight. My husband at 42, has lost over 35 lbs. and looks amazing!”
So here we are…Much better off than we were at the beginning of 2015. Since completing the 90day challenge, at the age of 45..I am down 25 lbs. I’m so much happier and I finally feel in control of myself and my weight. My husband at 42, has lost over 35 lbs. and looks amazing!  We have so much more energy and stamina, a renewed approach to eating/drinking and truly enjoying life! We all look forward to our classes and are determined to continue on and reach our goals. Our kids have benefited as well, they are in great shape and their self esteem is growing. They help us keep on track with our eating and are trying new foods with us. We are becoming a force to be reckoned with and I pity the fool who tries to bully or abduct our kids, steal my pocketbook, tries to hurt my husband or myself – they won’t know what hit ‘em!  OSU!
