New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame to Honor Jimmie Rivera With The “FIGHTER” Award.

by Keith Gehshan

PRESS RELEASE (New Jersey) – The New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame is extremely proud of its sixth class of inductees to the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
This class will be honored at the sixth dinner gala to be held at The Event Center in iPlay America in Freehold, NJ on December 1, 2017.
On December 1st, Jimmie Rivera will be inducted as Fighter.
Jimmie “El Terror” Rivera, first walked into Tiger Schulmann’s MMA gym in Ramsey, New Jersey as a nine-year old looking to escape the bullying he was facing at school, and never looked back. Jimmie launched his professional MMA career when he was 18 years old, winning his first bout. Over the past 10 years, he has become one of the most accomplished MMA fighters, with a 21-1 record, and has held titles in Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC), King of the Cage, and Ring of Combat prior to signing with UFC. He has won his last 20 fights, dating back to February of 2009, all while proudly exhibiting his Puerto Rican heritage, wearing the flag during his walkout. Most recently, Jimmie defeated Thomas Almeida at UFC Long Island in July, a decisive victory that put Jimmie in contention for the Bantamweight title.
While his success in the Octagon is notable, Jimmie’s true passion is found under the roof of his gym, Tiger Schulmann’s 23rd street location in Manhattan, a branch of the same franchise that initially altered his life. Jimmie is a passionate coach and mentor, finding true happiness in his students’ successes and conveying the same values that helped him accomplish so many goals. Jimmie is a Bergen County-native, and he and his wife Samantha, who he met through Tiger Schulmann’s gym, currently live in Waldwick.
