The best decision EVER!! The training, experience, and conditioning my kids are receiving are going to take them through life’s challenges! They’ve improved immensely from day one and hope to surpass their potential as they continue to train! Sensei is amazing. Not just an instructor, but a mentor who teaches with a passion! I highly recommend this center for those who want their kids – and themselves – to gain discipline and focus in the mind and body, and become part of a wonderful family of staff, students, and their families!!

Great organization, great kids, and great instructors. Our Sensei is an awesome, qualified, well-respected leader. He’s helped my son grow, gain self-esteem and self-discipline. I would recommend this place to anyone with children looking for guidance, direction, and a life skill that will assist them in every aspect of their life.

I am very new to this mixed martial arts world and family. I say family because that’s how it feels. This place is something special and I’m proud to be a part of it. Two weeks ago, my son barely made it through the door on our first trial lesson and after last night’s class, he asked if he could come 3 times a week! I highly recommend this extraordinary family and professional values establishment.

Meet Our Head Instructor

Joshu Edwin Torres

Joshu Edwin Torres began his martial arts journey at age 36, building on his background in high school and college wrestling. What started as a personal challenge and an opportunity to learn martial arts quickly became a lifelong passion. After more than 24 years of training and 12 years of teaching, Joshu is dedicated to helping students grow through martial arts, just as his own instructors inspired and motivated him throughout his journey.

Growing up in the South Bronx, Joshu experienced bullying firsthand—an experience that continues to influence the way he teaches today. He understands the importance of giving students not only the skills to defend themselves, but also the confidence, focus, discipline, and determination to face challenges and overcome adversity. His goal is to help every student become stronger both on and off the mat.

After more than two decades of training, Joshu credits martial arts with having a tremendous impact on his physical and mental well-being. Along the way, it has also given him lasting friendships, a strong sense of community, and the opportunity to positively influence the lives of the students he teaches.
