Head Instructor Ricardo Fuentes’ transformative journey began at Tiger Schulmann’s at the age of 17. For him, martial arts wasn’t just a pastime; it quickly became his refuge. His training revealed changes that were both physical and mental. The biggest change of all was his renewed confidence.
Driven by the profound impact Tiger Schulmann’s had on him, Fuentes felt compelled to share this gift with others. Teaching martial arts, to him, is a deeply personal mission, transcending mere physical techniques. He endeavors to guide his students beyond their self-imposed limitations, helping them achieve feats they once deemed impossible.
“For me,” he reflects, “it’s about fostering resilience, fortitude, and an unwavering confidence to confront life’s adversities head-on. Discipline, I believe, is the cornerstone of this journey, leading to destinations where fleeting motivation falls short.”Fuentes’ commitment extends far beyond the confines of the school. He’s also an active professional MMA fighter and jiu-jitsu competitor.
“It was my father who saw the potential for martial arts to shape my life,” declares Instructor Alex Schulmann. “He knew, that despite me being on the autism spectrum, putting me in martial arts would benefit me in school and out.” But, I didn’t initially know it would become a career. However, from the moment I earned my brown belt, I knew being an instructor was the path I wanted to walk – not just for myself, but to help guide others toward their own martial arts journey.”
