1 out of 6 children are getting bullied regularly. Unfortunately, Jeremy was the 1. He had been bullied by kids in his school repeatedly, both verbally and physically. That is why his parents decided to enroll him into Tiger Schulmann’s MMA in Cherry Hill. Jeremy is a very smart kid, but was always very shy around other people and a little timid during confrontations. Building up his confidence and ability to defend himself was the main goal for his parents because they didn’t want anything to happen to him like what they’ve been hearing on the news.
“1 out of 6 children are getting bullied regularly.”
Becoming a confident kid takes becoming tough physically and also mentally. If you aren’t tough mentally, you will never be able to push yourself far enough to become tough physically too. The mental toughness starts with having self-discipline, which Jeremy definitely had. He focused on the techniques and moves being shown from day one and never gave up until he got them, all the while doing it with a smile on his face. Slowly, you saw a transformation from the shy kid in the back never making eye contact or speaking up to the one answering all the questions and wanting to demonstrate in front of the whole class how to do the combinations.
“..when he was confronted by those same bullies that hurt him in the past…he stood tall and defended himself and hasn’t had another bullying issue since.”
That mental toughness pushed Jeremy, nicknamed “Bulldog”, to become tough physically too. His punches and kicks became very strong and powerful, while also developing his ground defense in grappling class too. His final transformation happened when he was confronted by those same bullies that hurt him in the past and this time rather than giving in, he stood tall and defended himself and hasn’t had another bullying issue since. He will be taking that toughness to his first competition in June at the Challenge of Champions. This is also while Bulldog recently earned his Tiger Schulmann’s High White Belt. So proud of you Bulldog. Congratulations.
There are plenty of other kids out there that are currently going through what Jeremy went through. Just like him, mixed martial arts is the solution to that problem. On May 22nd, Tiger Schulmann’s MMA will be hosting a Bully Shield event teaching how to deal with bullying. Click HERE to find out more about it.
