1 year ago this April I began training at Tiger Schulmann’s MMA in the hopes to find an exercise or workout routine that would stick. Family history shows I need to exercise and stay healthy for my heart to live longer than 50, so this is important. The gym is incredibly boring, and unless you have someone training you, impossible to stick with (for me anyway). I have been in and out of gyms for at least 10 years, working out 3 or 4 months at a time. Needless to say, Tiger Schulmann’s did the trick.

I’ve never been so motivated to workout in all my life. The classes are far from easy, but they are fun, motivating, and encouraging and most of all, takes my mind away from the typical stresses of my daily life of running a business and raising a family for an hour a day. I started out taking 2 classes per week and ‘chomped at the bit’ constantly to improve my skill and excel into advanced classes like intermediate kickboxing and grappling. Now, 1 year later, training 5 days a week in all of those! I’d train more if time allowed! I don’t think I’ve ever been to the gym 5 days consecutively in a single week.

Granted, I have tremendous respect for the 4th degree Master Instructor teaching the classes and his teaching style all together, which I think is what makes these classes so beneficial, worth while, and fun. Training with such an achieved individual gives me the motivation to get to class on a daily basis and be ready to learn. The classes are a small price to pay for such amazing instruction.

So a year in now and loving it! My goal is no longer to get the workout I need to stay healthy, it’s to become a better martial artist, and maybe win a tournament or two!

John had enrolled his child a few months previous to enrolling himself. He has been a constant fixture in the school since then, and even made the cut for a recent commercial that was filmed at our headquarters. He has made tremendous progress in his martial arts in a very short time, with much more to come! – TSMMA Wayne
