October is national Bully Prevention Month. At Tiger Schulmann’s we are committed to stopping bullying in its tracks.
We are pleased to announce that over 40 Tiger Schulmann’s locations are hosting a One-Day-Only, Free Bully Shield Seminar on Saturday October 15th. This free seminar is open to the public and all children, ages 7-12 are welcome to attend. Bully Shield teaches children essential bully prevention skills by identifying and dissecting the bullying stages. Children are taught about the bullying process, what to watch for, and how to act in an effective, non-violent manner.
Bully Shield is provided as a community service by Tiger Schulmann’s. This special seminar, led by each school’s head instructor, is designed to be fun, informative and interactive. Role playing between a bully and a victim demonstrates to children the proper responses to bullying attempts. Tiger Schulmann’s students who’ve overcome bullying will also be present to recite their stories, lending hope to the victims of bullying.
Recent statistics have shown that one out of every four students report being bullied during the school year. Bullied kids are often distracted by worries which keep them from enjoying school, learning, having fun, or joining other kids in their activities. Anxiety and depression can set in for those subject to prolonged bullying and cases involving tragic endings have been well documented in recent years.
Since 1984, Tiger Schulmann’s Martial Arts has helped thousands of kids quickly put an end to being bullied. Many of these bullied children have even gone on to become instructors themselves. Our commitment towards ending the epidemic that bullying has become, led us to the creation of the Bully Shield seminar. Empowering the youth with the proper identification skills and overall knowledge on the matter is a major confidence builder. And if there’s anything which stops bullying in its tracks, it’s self-confidence!
