Tiger Schulmann’s Kickboxing program will help you achieve what you’ve been looking for!  Complete fitness!  A complete workout must include Strength Training, Cardiovascular Conditioning, and Flexibility.

Muscles need resistance training to improve your strength.

To get stronger your muscles need resistance training.  Something needs to be working against the muscles to help them get stronger.  When you go to a gym, you are lifting weights that act against your muscles.  This activity tends to become very monotonous, repetitive and eventually boring, leading to a lack of motivation to continue.  In kickboxing class, you build strength through striking and kicking objects that provide resistance.  Heavy bags, punch mitts, muay thai pads and your best buddy and training partners!  Never boring, since you’re constantly try to make each technique better, faster and stronger.  Motivation is never an issue; you’ll always be striving to get better.

Cardiovascular Conditioning can be achieved in many ways.  The best way to improve stamina is with interval training.  This means you will achieve a high intensity burst of activity followed by a period of rest.  High intensity to get your heart rate up as close to your maximum heart rate as you can, and the rest period to allow the heart rate to come back down.  By resting and recovering between rounds you can really apply maximum effort on the next round.  So each round in a kickboxing class gives you the opportunity to punch and kick getting your heart rate up before the round ends.  Also very importantly, allowing it to come back down and recover for the next round.

To maintain range of motion, balance, agility and prevent injury, nothing beats Flexibility

The final element to your complete fitness is flexibility.  A quick stretch and warm up before class to prepare the body for the workout. Every kickboxing class always ends with a good stretch to allow you to increase your range of motion and help to prevent injury, as well as achieve better balance, agility, and muscle control.  Consistent strength training without flexibility will actually decrease your range of motion and cause your flexibility and range of motion to decrease.
